Virtual Road Safety Choices

Road Safety at work and home, The Real Cost of A vehicle Crash, Picking Up the Pieces After a Fatal Crash, Returning To Work After A Vehicle Crash John Westhaver was a typical high school student, full of life and fun-loving. With only a month and a half left of high school, John was in a crash with three friends. Due to speeding and driver inexperience, the driver lost control of the car John and his friends were travelling in. John was lucky, he escaped; his three friends did not. He sustained burns to 75 per cent of his body and broken bones. He spent several months in and out of the Saint John Regional Burn Unit as they repaired the damage caused by the life-threatening fire. John is a true testament to what it is to not only survive a fatal car crash but to thrive. He has been speaking at companies, organizations and schools across Canada and the U.S. for more than 18 years. Audiences from Nova Scotia to British Columbia to Connecticut have been inspired and called to action by John's positive message on choices and how they can have lasting consequences. John is passionate about giving back and making a difference. He works with other burn survivors and volunteers with the Firefighters Burn Fund in Victoria, B.C., their Burn Survivor Support Group as well as the Canadian Burn Survivor Community. John is an active member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers - British Columbia chapter where he serves on the board. John is a certified Virtual Speaker through eSpeakers and is also a decorated speaker with two prestigious awards he earned from his work. In 2012, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2017, he received the Coast Mental Health - Courage to Come Back Award in the Physical Rehabilitation category.
